[Opinions] Re: WDYT of Dashiell?
I feel silly asking this but how is it pronounced? When I first looked at it I thought (Da- Sheel) which Im pretty confident that is correct. But then I started looking at it more and was thinking it could be(Da-shy-el). Either way I like it. Its unique without seeming luke your trying too hard. Its something that would stand out in a crowd but wouldnt make the person feel like a weirdo.

Ooh... I kind of... think it seems like you're trying too hard. Like, "Dash" is right there. I guessed "Dashing" would be a bit less subtle, and I guess it's better than Dash on its own, but boy is it ever trying hard. It's like what fedora guy would rename himself. You know, the guy at your school that awkwardly wears a fedora. I guess there's nothing particularly wrong with that, just a little typifying.

pronunciationI was wondering too.
DASH-yul? (Like Daniel?)
DA-shee-ul?

Cate Blanchett used this for her son. I heard her say it on a talk show once and she pronounced it "Dash-ull." But, she's British, so maybe her accent added to its pronunciation. He's brother to Roman and Ignatius. Thats exactly the type of names I expect it to be paired with. Sort of snooty/hipster.

Cate Blanchett is Australian, not British. I can't help on the name pronunciation as I've never heard it said out loud but my instinct would be to pronounce it as Dash-eel.

You're right! Sorry, I don't know why I said she was British. I know better than that.

I'm pretty sure that Dash in " The Incredibles" has the full name of Dashiell, and it's said the say way - "DASH-ull"

Dashiell Hammett was named after his mother's surname and it was an Anglicanized version of the French name De Chiel.
It's pronounced DASH-ull.

So by all accounts we just ignore the i altogether eh? Huh. I like Dash-yul better than Dash-ull, but oh well.
