Does anyone know the origin of the feminine name Isamar?
It seems to have been used in the Spanish-speaking world because of a Venezuelan telenovela, La Revancha (1989), which had a character named Isamar Medina. This seems to have been a pseudonym taken by the character - her original name was
Mariana Torrealba.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_RevanchaIt also made a brief appearance in the US Top 1000, no doubt being used among the Spanish-speaking population.
I've never watched the series, so I don't know if the origin of the name was explained in it. Could it be a combination of
Isabel and
Mariana?
