Zeke and Rose were delighted when they discovered they were expecting their first child, and chose to keep the news private between them and their families, for as long as they could possibly do so. Even when the media first started to speculate that Rose was pregnant, they managed to hold them off for a bit longer, when Rose said she has simply put a bit of weight on! Rose was almost 5 months pregnant when they finally had to concede to the media she was indeed pregnant.
As soon as the pregnancy was confirmed, the media went crazy, and Zeke and Rose weren't able to pop out to buy a few baby bits without being hounded. However, the main focus of the media's attention was the sex of the baby, and of course the name.
Zeke and Rose had actually decided to find out the sex of their baby, and knew from 4 months it was a girl, but they kept it to themselves. They didn't even tell family. They also decided the name with a few months to go, choosing to honor their backgrounds, and also their mothers.
When their beautiful baby girl was born, they announced her name to the world as...
Viola Marilee
Viola is the scientific name for the flower violet, which is the state flower of Illinois, the state that both Zeke and Rose originate from. They didn't want to use Violet, as that had become a bit too popular for their liking. Marilee was chosen as the name reflects compounds of their mothers' names, Marianne and Shirley.
Zeke and Rose now wait with baited breath, to see if Viola has a surge in popularity, in much the same way Violet did when some celebrity types first used that.
