Annie and Leo were thrilled when they found out she was pregnant only a few months after their wedding. Annie was in the middle of filming a movie (a period drama set in early Ireland), and she and Leo decided to wait until the movie was finished to announce her pregnancy. Almost the moment they did, tabloids and websites went wild. The beautiful couple found themselves stalked by cameras everywhere they went, from restaurants to baby boutiques to their favorite parks. Speculation about the sex of the baby began early, and everything they bought for the baby was fodder for the gossip. No one was sure, though, until Leo and Annie decided to announce it. They announced it on the red carpet at the Oscars, where Annie was presenting the award for costume design--they were having a girl! Her name, though they had decided it within days after finding out the sex, was kept secret. Annie and Leo's friends and family threw her a fabulous baby shower, and their nurseries in all of their homes (Malibu, Florida, and New York) were all decorated in the same spring forest theme.
Annie was perfectly healthy and glowing and happy during her pregnancy, and her health regimen and diet were all analyzed and praised. Her pregnancy style, especially her beautiful blue Oscar gown, was universally admired. She and Leo were both on cloud nine, though Annie told her mother she could have done without the cameras pointed at her belly every time she went out. Her labor was relatively easy, with her doctor and Leo and her mother and his mother all helping keep her calm throughout the process. After almost nine hours, the two welcomed their daughter, a beautiful girl with Annie's famous blue eyes and lashes, Leo's rich complexion, and a head of thick black hair. She weighed eight pounds and was twenty inches long. The Delaneys and the Morellis all thought she was utterly gorgeous, especially Annie's sisters Jessamine and Emmeline and Leo's sister Daniella and brother Victor. As the first grandchild, Baby Morelli was naturally universally worshipped by her grandparents as well.
A few days after her birth, when they had spent some time back home, Annie and Leo decided to give rights to the first pictures to People. They also finally revealed her name at this point. After deciding to honor both of their family backgrounds (Annie's Irish and Leo's Italian), they decided to name their daughter Roisin Alba Delaney. Roisin, a traditional Irish name, was used as a symbol for Ireland herself in old patriotic poetry, and they both loved the sound and history. Alba means "dawn", which they thought a beautiful meaning to go with the sound. They added Delaney as a second middle name to honor Annie's famous family, since Roisin was given the last name Morelli. Though they hadn't intended to, the family couldn't help calling her Rosy when they saw her cheeks like two apples. In the interview that accompanied the pictures, Annie revealed that, as she is breastfeeding, she has decided to take some time off from acting. They have decided to not have a nanny for now, as both are so utterly in love with their daughter that Leo has also decided to take time off to be with his two favorite girls.
