Actor David Silverman and his wife had a baby girl and they named her Cleo.
What are your thoughts on Cleo?
I like the idea of having a Cleo and using Cleopatra as "pet name" like how the French elongate names like Anne to Annette.
I'm strongly considering Andromeda for a daughter because I love Anne but I don't like the critisism that it's too plain. But we could call her Anne on the birth certificate and call her our little Andromeda. And maybe she will have a sister Cleo who will be our Cleopatra. Just a thought...

I like it, but it's the name of a magazine in Australia (similar to Cosmopolitan), so I'm not sure I could get past that.

I don't like it. My car is a Renault Clio, so that's all I can think of.

I once knew a Cleone (pr clee-OH-nee), and some years ago there was a local DJ on a rock station with the same name. Could be worth thinking about.

In Disney's Pinocchio the fish is called Cleo, but there is also a cat in that movie too, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

To me Cleo is more the nn for Cleopatra. And that's what I don't like about it. I like the Cleo, but Cleopatra feels cheesey. I'd use Cleo as a nn for Clementine or something else. Or, Clio / Klio on its own.
As an Ann, I like the simplicity of my name. I've always prefered the Anne spelling. Andromeda is a cute nn, in a whimsical way. But I wouldn't feel the need to "dress up" Anne. If anything, her simplicity allows you to go to town with a GP mn. Anne Clothilde, Anne Theodosia, Anne Parthenia, etc. Or, you could go the other way around, use Andromeda as the formal name with Anne / Annie as a nn.

Anne and Cleo are charming. Rather than plain, I consider Anne elegant. Your nickname ideas are fun, though I prefer short nicknames for ease of use. I'm a practical girl, and easily tongue-tied by the antics of children. Bill Cosby does a bit about that...how adults, once articulate and conversant, around children, become unable to get entire words out when trying to communicate. :)

Cleopatra as a pet name is a great idea, given the meaning! I love Cleo/Clio. Cleone too.
I don't think Anne is too plain - it would be exciting to meet a young Anne, and rare. But Andromeda would be nice as a nickname. I like the contrast with sweet, simple Anne. Cleo and Anne sound kind of 20s together to me.
