I've loved, nay, adored Barnaby for years. So Barnabas is an easy one for me to love too. I love the roundness of them both. Barnaby has spunk. Barnabas has gravitas.

I do love Eric (and the combo eric Somerled), but I think it might be someone else your'e thinking of. The "ehr-" sound at the beginning is very fetching.
Oddly, I too thought of Barnabas Eric so you may be on to something there. Then again, the styles are a bit at odds with each other. I'm picturing a wise old man from the Middle East in snow shoes. :-/
