It feels a little old-fashioned to me as I don't know of any young ones, but it's a good solid friendly name. Solid and hill-like! Female use of Bryn always mystifies me as apart from anything else, it's so similar to Bryan.
Bryn combos all look like place-names to me! but I like most of yours, especially Bryn Malcolm, Bryn Hywel and Bryn Richard. Other suggestions:

All I think of is Bryn Mawr College (women's liberal arts college). I can't see it on a guy because of this, even though I know it's a guy's name. Also, the 2 people named Bryn(n) I've met were also girls. I don't have the greatest personal associations with the name, but I don't think it's a bad name or anything.
