That's perfect! I prefer time periods in the past too. How about we make Bial a small kingdom near Switzerland, bordering the Austrian Hapsburg empire but similarly independant and with ties to Italian countries. It could border Switzerland, Venice, and the empire. I think the conflict with trying to keep from being taken over by the Holy Roman Empire could make some interesting plot points.
