I like Tamar, but wouldn't use it. I'd match it with something less frilly than the mns you suggest.

Tamar is such an earthy, simple name that I can't help but think it needs something just as grounded. Tamar Judith sprang to mind.

I say TAMah, and I like it better than Tamara or Tamsin. But I think of it as a river, not a biblical reference. Some biblical names are good, some are so-so, some are dreadful and some are associated with the fanatical fringe and therefore distasteful to me.

I liked the flow of Tamar Celeste, but I don't enjoy Celeste (Queen of the Elephants and my friend's cat) so keeping a good rhythm we could consider Tamar Louise, Tamar Suzanne, Tamar Eleanor, Tamar Clare, Tamar Angela. Or Tamar Susannah, Tamar Talitha or from the other end of the Bible, Tamar Christine. I didn't like an R- name following Tamar, so that cuts out Rebecca as well as Rosalind and Rosemary.

I say TA-mar or ta-MAHR.

I actually don't think it's too biblical. I like it and it seems usable.

I like Tamar well enough, but where I find it sturdy and ordinary, I love Tamara which I find luminous. Yeah, I know a lot of people view Tamara as dated and maybe it is with the nn Tammy which I don't care for at all. I'd call her Tamara.

Tamara Winifred is nice.

I think it is too masculine. It is too hard and unflattering. I pronounce it TAH-mar, just like you. I was not aware that it was a Biblical name. If you were to use it, I think it would make a better middle name. As for your combos, I like Tamar Rosalind, Tamar Rosemary, Tamar Winifred.

I love Tamar, which I prn tuh-MAR. It's so exotic. My only concern about usability is that it sounds rather masculine. Other than that, it's very usable. You're right that Tamar Celeste is your best combo. Tamar Rosemary is also lovely.
