[Facts] Meaning of the name Kynynmond
I'd like to know the gender associated with this name as well as what it means. It is most likey English, or possibly French, in origin. The mond suffix means "of the world," but the Kynyn is a stumper.

I'm not very good at name origins research, but it could have possibly come from the anglo-saxon word "cinan", to yawn. It is possible that the name means "One who yawns" with the -mond being added on later. Do any better linguists have any ideas?

the name Kynyn- may be related to the Old English word 'cyning' meaning "king" or 'cyne' meaning "royal".
so the name may mean "king of the world" or "royal world".
Hope this is of some help. :)

Thanks for the help RBrown. The meaning you suggest is certainly plausible & just what I was hoping might be the case. I want to use the name for a male character of noble birth in a fantasy novel I'm writing. I had got used to calling this fellow Kynynmond (a name I found by accident in the bibliography of a book I was reading)when it suddenly occurred to me the name might have less of Raymond in it than of Rosamond! Such gaffs can be costly to struggling authors.
