Sorry ...since no other answers, I went into my Indo-European Roots book ...the only thing I got (and please remember it is often far removed) is one word meaning "shining" which lead to the word 'gold' {among others} and another that meant "to swallow" which evolved into 'glut' {among others} .... just a shot at it ...
