[Surname] the meaning of american surname Golin
Perhaps some of these Golin are of italian origin.
Through Ellis Island site I have noticed that some others are British
or Swedish. Could anyone tell me what is the meaning of the british or swedish surname?

Sorry ...since no other answers, I went into my Indo-European Roots book ...the only thing I got (and please remember it is often far removed) is one word meaning "shining" which lead to the word 'gold' {among others} and another that meant "to swallow" which evolved into 'glut' {among others} .... just a shot at it ...
In Italy this surname comes from Venice region. It is probably a variant of Ugolin a first name coming from a latinized form of HUGH
HUGO, in italian Ugo.
But what about the swedish GOLIN?
