Omar is 13 and hails from Tadmur, Syria. His parents could not afford to care for him anymore and gave him up.
Omar loves school and learning, although he has a tendency to be a bit arrogant due to his high level of intelligence.
He loves to strike up debates and would gladly spend all his time talking. One of his favorite topics is history, and he would like to be able to read and learn about Syria and the Middle East as much as possible, since his parents couldn't buy him books.
Rashid is 12 and also comes from Beirut. His parents could not afford to give him special care because he is blind.
He left seven siblings behind him and misses them terribly. His family has expressed a desire to talk to him and visit, if at all possible.
Rashid loves to play with animals and other children and doesn't consider his blindness an issue.
He goes out of his way to make himself and others comfortable in any situation and always has a smile on his face.
Rashid is looking forward to meeting his new family and to moving to Syria!
