I went to school with a girl named Frances who always has gone by Frank. I think Frankie is more feminine. Also my elderly neighbor is named Frances but her friends and family call her Francie which I think is adorable.

I love the nn Frankie for Frances, I don't know why it couldn't work for Francesca.Other ideas: Chessy, Cesca, CeCe, Fran, Frannie.
My favorite is Chessy, but I also really like just plain Francesca.

I don't think Frankie is a good name for a girl. You could use Fran, Frannie, Francie (this would be my favourite), Cesca, Chess... maybe Ness or Nessie? Francesca reminds me of Fresca, as in the pop. Maybe that would work too?

lol, that's my name! Nns I've been given include Fran, Frannie as well as Fra and Franci (pron. "Franchy", the Italian way). Other common nns for Francesca in Italy (the name's super-popular), are Chicca (pron Kikka) and Checa (pron Keka), which however are mainly used for young kids(personally I hate them).
I guess if someone called me Frankie, I wouldn't particularly mind.

Frankie is trashy on a girl. Fran, Franny, Jesca, Chessy, Frances are all much prettier and appropriate.

I knew a female FrankieI forget her given name, but I do know Frankie was just randomly picked by her, and in an odd way, it really suit her well.I like nns to be sounds already with the name (meaning, Bill for William and Bob for Robert are not ones I'd go with):Fran, Cesca, Ces, Frances, Frankie would also be acceptable.

I went to second grade with a Frankie (Francesca). She was good at drawing princess dresses.

Frankie isn't that good on a girl imo. I knew a girl named Francesca who sometimes got called Cesca. Or Chess.

Frankie can work on agirl in less formal settings. I don't like it, but the right girl could carry it off.FranFrannyFrancie (in high school, there was an exchange student from Italy named Francesca, and she went by Francie)Chessie (I don't like this but thought I'd include it)CheskaOr even Fresca, like the soda.
