I like it.
The associations I have that make it a name I wouldn't use are
Cheryl Tiegs, and just a general 20th-century-ness.. it fell out of fashion, as far as I could tell, during my childhood. All the Cheryls I've known have been 10-15 years older than I am.
It doesn't remind me of cherries, but it does vaguely suggest something red, I suppose.
