I think people are way more likely to shorten Melissa to Mel and Lissa. Melissa is ok. Pretty. Just not a favourite. Perhaps because there are just too many Melissas in my age bracket around here...

I like Mel and Lissa (and Lis or Lissie).... just hate Missy! How many Melissas do you know? I'm curious about it's popularity

I couldn't begin to count the Melissas I know. Leave it be that I had 3 Melissas on my soccer team in any given year, and there were generally always 2 in my classes at school.
