Its link with the Finnish Epic story and Virgin Mary is interesting but it has the same vibe of Marietta in Italy: a nickname for an elderly lady born in years 1930-50. I personally would not use it except as honouring.
Marjatta is originally a figure in Finnish mythology, a virgin who gives birth to a son, and is very obviously based off of the Virgin Mary in Christianity.
Pronounced MAHR-yaht-tah.
Marjatta is a person in the Finnish epic Kalevala. Taken literally it can also mean "without a berry" in Finnish.
