Meaning & History
The first element of this name is probably derived from Greek διά (dia) "across, through", but Greek Διος (Dios) "of Zeus" is also a possibility. The second element is either derived from Greek ἀγορεύω (agoreuo) "to orate, to speak publicly" or from Greek ἀγορά (agora), which can mean "assembly" as well as "market". Last but not least, another possibility for this name's etymology is that the name as a whole is derived from Greek διαγορεύω (diagoreuo) meaning "to speak, to declare." A bearer of this name was Diagoras of Melos, a Greek poet from the 5th century BC.
