Nashira - nuh-SHEER-uh

where I have seen these unusual names

The only place I have seen the use of the name Andronicus is in the play Titus Andronicus by Shakespeare.... Archimedes was the name of Merlin's owl sidekick in Disney's The Sword in the Stone. I also believe Hermione is the name of a greek goddess?

Andonicus or Andronikos is derived from the Greek "andros" ("of a man") and "nike" ("victory").

Athamas was King of Orchomenus and son of Aeolus . His first wife was the the goddess Nephele . The origin of his name is obscure, even though some references relare it to the Hebrew name Thomas .

Athamas...

Do you suppose there may be some connection between the name "Athamas" and the "athame" -- the "air dagger" ceremonial tool used by some neopagans? I don't know the origin of the word "athame", but I was wondering if there might be some connection there.

Hmmm...quite plausible :)Havent found an etymology for "athame", any ideas?
The only alternative long-shot etymologies I can conjecture could me "adamas" ("diamond") or "athambia" ("imperturbability")
