Pronouncing a name
Hi,i just saw the name Svajone. It's a Lithuanian name for girls meaning "dreamy" or "dream-like."Does anyone know how to pronounce it?Thanks.

Svah-YONE-eh. j's are not pronounced in Lithuanian I'm pretty sure.

Thanks guys.Xenokleia, i'm pretty sure you're right.In most European countries the "j" is pronounced that way.My mother was German Her name was Jutta (YOO-tah: The "u" being pronounced as in put, not as in food).Thanks again, people.

Thanks! And why I'm sure......is because I look at google and google how to pronounce consonants and vowels in languages so I know how to apply it to the name when I don't have anyone responding to me on here. So in the future google is an amazing tool to look up something like "Lithuanian Pronunciation", etc. Though I do admit some languages are hard to find and some have tons of sources- and when the sources vary, it's hard to find sometimes if those are different dialects you're seeing or you need to find a more reliable source.
