Hi Everyone!
Wow! I found the island of misfit names! Woohoo! Maybe someone knows about my first name.
It is a German name. I am looking for any information or meaning. My first name is Rimgard, that's right Rimgard,
it's not a typo! :-) (and no I don't play basketball! :-) ) I believe it comes from the German name Irmgard.
Anyway, I would appreciate any information! Thank you! Rim

Your name really looks like a wrong spelling of Irmgard which is a quite common name in Germany for women older than 50 years.
But maybe Rimgard could be a form of the name Reingard (I just thought of that because Rimbert is a form of Reinbert...). Reingard is an Old German name meaning 'wise, counsel' & 'protection'.
By the way: Rimgard and Rimgård is used as a last name in Sweden. The suffix gard/gård means 'protection' or 'farmstead', but I'm not sure about the prefix Rim-...
Swedish rim means 'rhyme', rimfrost means 'rime'... but I don't know if it has got something to do with the name Rimgård/Rimgard...
