Meaning & History

From the name of the Dardanelles, one of the straits that separate European Turkey from Asian Turkey. The place name apparently derives from the name of DARDANOS, son of Zeus and Electra in Greek myth.

"Dardanella" was also the name of a popular song in 1919.
