Meaning & History
Derived from the Welsh intensive prefix *an-/am- combined with llawdd "praise". In Welsh myth he is the father of Eigyr (Igraine) and therefore the grandfather of King Arthur. He is also the father of Goleuddydd and grandfather of Culhwch. He is known as Amlawdd Wledig, meaning Amlawdd "the Emperor".
