Late medieval form of VOLKERT. This name has survived to modern times, but it is extremely rare in the Netherlands, especially when compared to its modern form Volkert.A known bearer of this name was the Dutch admiral Volckert Schram (c. 1620-1673), who was of Frisian descent.
