It's not pronounced YA-ehl in Hebrew, it's ya-EHL. The emphasis is on the second syllable. Same with Ariel and Daniel in Hebrew (you have the correct pronunciation for these two on this site, but not for Yael). [noted -ed]

When Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism, she took on the Hebrew name Yael.
Yael Grobglas is a French-Israeli actress. Her first major role was in three seasons of the Israeli sci-fi TV series Ha'Yi, which established her popularity among Israel's teenage audiences. She gained recognition for her debut film role in the first Israeli horror film Rabies, which participated in the Tribeca Film Festival, and a number of other venues internationally. Through 2010–11 Grobglas performed a number of lead and supporting roles in prime time Israeli television shows, including in the sitcom Ha-Shualim, Ramzor, and Hatzuya. Grobglas is also known for her role as "The Girl" in the interactive video of We the Kings "Say You Like Me\". And as Gabi in the popular Israeli series Tanuhi. It was announced on 22 February 2013 that the actress was cast in the lead role of "America Singer" in The CW's second pilot for The Selection, though that was ultimately not picked up as a television series. That same year, Grobglas was cast for The CW's's Reign as Olivia, an Italian born noblewoman who is an old flame of Prince Francis.
In France, Yaël is used for both girls and boys, although the boys' name and the girls' name come from separate sources. As a girls' name, it's fairly common in the Jewish community - both female Yaëls I know are Jewish. As a boys' name, it's probably a modern name created to sound similar to other -aël names popular among boys.
Yael is a beautiful name, it is a very brave name. The name Yael makes me think of the name Warrior. Yael is a very beautiful name to have, it has flaws that others don't. Also it is cool since it has a "y" in it, no name has a "y" in it.
Hello everybody! This name is carried by me and I really am proud of my name. I like the story of it and the meaning as well, also the sound of Yael. The thing about the pronunciation...in the English speaking room, people have troubles speaking my name right, but in the German language, where I live, they say Ya'el and that's perfect. I just can recommend that name as a human being called Yael.
Lovely strong name. I know a Yael with a French mother - her name is spelled Yaelle and I think that is the French version. It has the merit of making the pronunciation clearer.
I really like this name and the sound of it but I think it kind of sounds like ya'all.

I can imagine there being a lot of people who would never be able to pronounce this name. It's pretty, but there'll be a lot of Yales in a Yaels future.
Yael is my name! A lot of people pronounce it as Yale, which is extremely annoying. It's pronounced as Yah-el. And I've never met anyone with the name Jael.
I like this name, along with its anglicized variant, Jael, but it may be mispronounced as "Yale," which is okay, but not nearly as gorgeous as the proper pronunciation.
Named my daughter Yael because it was a character in a Herman Wouk book I had just read (she was a tall blonde Israeli lieutenant). I later found out biblically that Yael was credited with killing Cicero (leader of the occupying army) by luring him into her tent with her wiley feminine ways and killing him. This began many years of peace because of his death. She is tall and blonde but not yet a lieutenant.
