I don't think any other name has ever topped this one for me. Just. Imagine. Freaking "Wolfgang"!? How absolutely metal is that!? Especially with the middle name "Amadeus", "Wolfgang" flows extremely well. Wolfgang Amadeus. Harmonious in its own right.
I think Wolfgang is an awesome name. It is strong, powerful and unique. I also love the cool meaning “traveling wolf” as well. As far as the gangs go, I do not think it sounds like that at all. Besides, gang names usually don't even incorporate the word “gang” in them. Wolfgang does not sound like a gang name. It is rather handsome, masculine and unique. Overall, I think Wolfgang is a great name.
I've always loved this name but unfortunately it might be too out there for a lot of English speakers.
Despite how outdated the name is, it can be found in fanmade video game project inspired by Danganronpa called Project: Eden's Garden. The character's name is Wolfgang Akire, commonly nicknamed as Wolfie, and known as the Ultimate Lawyer.
I personally think the name Wolfgang is a little out there, but I don't hate it. The name sounds Bada-- in a German accent though, 100/10. Though, Wolfgang can sound a little weird in an American accent. I definitely wouldn't use it myself, but if you can pull off a really good German accent, Wolfgang is the name for you!
Sounds badass tbh.
Nope, sounds like gangster.
The name Wolfgang is absolutely perfect for any parent with high hopes for their child! Special tip: make their middle name Amadeus if you’re really aiming for gold. Wolfgang is also a wonderful name for any wolf enthusiast. An alternative form of Wolfgang for any contrarians out there is Gang O’Wolves. It looks and sounds Irish, but it’s actually just a deconstructed and reconfigured form of Wolfgang! Hopefully, any parents considering this name are actively preparing to welcome a little Wolfie into the world by accumulating the following: countless Mozart CDs and books, a piano, a beautiful wig, a questionable sense of humor, and an arranged marriage to someone named Constanze (for the future, of course). Good luck!
Very awesome name, shame it's so outdated.
Wolfgang aka Wolf or Wolfie for short is a character in the book Apple Bough by Noel Streatfield.
I find this name to be one of the most bad[expletive] sounding names ever!
“Music, even in situations of the greatest horror, should never be painful to the ear but should flatter and charm it, and thereby always remain music.” - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
These people commenting are ruthless. Just because it's a different name doesn't mean you gotta call it stupid or weird. It's unique and I personally love being named after Mozart and other famous men, it tends to give me a boost of confidence because nobody ever forgets my name.
This really works better as a German name than as an English name, and for obvious reasons. I still like the sound of the name though, but it works better as a nickname or a middle name unless you're German.
I can't take this name seriously.
Even though I like the composer, I can't take this seriously, like Luvbug86 said.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of my favourite composers, I kind of like the English variant Wolfe / Wolf even though it is modern.
Wolfgang Mittermeyer is a character from the anime series "Legend of the Galactic Heroes".
Rising actor, Wolfgang Novagratz is a notable bearer of the name. He is the son of interior designers Cortney and Robert Novagratz.
This name is pretty lit.
I've always thought this was a weird name.
Someone-, this name is Mozart’s name... HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!
Wolfgang Bogdanow is a main character in Wachowskis TV series 'Sense8' aired on Netflix.
I have liked Wolfgang since I was a child. It could be strange but I associate Mozart with the name Amadeus rather than Wolfgang.Wolfgang has a very strong and German vibe that is very far from an artistic one. I can see Wolfgang on a soldier or also on a street guy. There is a main character in the 'Sense8' TV series that fits perfectly my idea about Wolfgang: a street guy involved in organized crime who is a thief, safecracker and skilled street fighter. It has quite a violent upbringing but with an intelligent, serious, diffident personality. It's Amadeus instead that takes all the artistic vibe of Mozart in my mind.
Scary name- reminds me of a pack of wolves. Still like Mozart though.
This is a family name of ours and my middle name (great-great grandparents emigrated from Austria) however in the English-speaking world people don't realize that it's a name with a great deal of history in Germanic culture. People think my name means "gang of wolves" or that it's somehow a modern, invented name. You'd think that the commenters who looked this up would realize that. I think it's a good name for music fans, how can you not be moved when listening to Mozart? I prefer the German pronunciation (W in German is a double V, not a double U) but I think it works in English.
Oh. My. Goodness. This name is horrible! It sounds like a band name, or a joke name. I can't believe people are actually named this! I can imagine some edgy 15 year old bad boy using this as his fake name. Easily the worst name I have ever heard.
Immature. Better as a nickname or a middle name.
Wolfgang Gartner is an electro house DJ.
Wolfgang sounds really strong and masculine. It also sounds a little bit mischievous and impish. 'Wolfie' is a great nickname, and who wouldn't love having such wonderful namesakes as Mozart and Goethe?
Wolfgang is the first name of the main character in "Blank Mastermind" an unpublished, yet amazing book.
Strange name, but I've been starting to like it recently.
My parents named me Wolfgang, and I couldn't be prouder to bear the name. Most everyone else calls me Wolfy, and whoever commented that Wolfgang was an "immature" name is really the immature one for not being able to take the name seriously. I believe that Wolfgang is a very unique name with an even cooler backstory. It's also a great conversation starter! I would personally recommend a name such as Wolfgang because of its uniqueness and the personality that it brings with it.
I guess it's fitting if you're a German guy that stares at people all the time and has lots of weird, kinky sexual fetishes.
One of my all time favourite names. Reminds me of the famous composer Wolfgang Mozart.

This is one of my favorite names; it's very original, has some good history behind it, sounds strong, ages well and I love the nickname "Wolf" too. This name gets a 10/10 from me for sure.
This sounds extremely pretentious and made up. I cannot take someone seriously if they have this name.
Wolfgang Petersen (born March 14, 1941) is a German film director best known for directing Das Boot, The NeverEnding Story, and Troy.
"Wolf" is not "Wolfgang" in Jewish. For one, "Jewish" is not a language!Secondly, one does not need to be an etymologist to see that "Wolf" means..."wolf"!By the way, Jews are terrified of wolves, as evidenced by their mythology. While Germans are afraid of wolves as well, they also honor and revere the wolf.PS-The composer's name was "Wolfgang Gottlieb Motzart"!

We're mostly German and we picked this boy name right away while listening to Mozart.
What's not to love about this name? It has great connotations and namesakes, wolves are really cool animals, the nickname "Wolfie" is brilliant, and all in all it is just an excellent name.

This name is like, literally badass and all kinds of awesome! Wolf is a great nickname. :D.
This name is just all kinds of awesome! I love it :D.

I'm German so I naturally love this name. It's so cool. :P
Wolfgang Heichel was one of the guys in the German group Dschinghis Khan (great band btw).
Masculine. Awesome.
For a middle name it's acceptable, but for a first name it's extremely weird and awful.

Please don't name your child this. As a middle name, it's okay, but as a first name not so much!
