I always associate this name with Witold Pilecki. A truly incredible namesake, with a life of such bravery, intelligence and resilience that it's almost hard to believe.
Witold Gombrowicz (1904 - 1969) was a renowned Polish novelist, his works were 'characterized by deep psychological analysis' and he's considered one of the best writers from Poland.
Witold Pilecki - the only person who volunteered to be imprisoned in Auschwitz, organised a resistance inside the camp and as a member of Armia Krajowa sent the first reports on the camp atrocities to the Polish Government in Exile, from where they were passed to the rest of the Western Allies.
