Winnie is also used as a masculine given name in English. However, it's more common for females. So, I think that the "Gender" of this name should be updated from "Feminine" to "Feminine & Masculine". A notable male bearer of this name is Winnie the Pooh.Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnie_(name)
This name makes me think of Winnie from animal crossing which makes me feel warm and happy :)

Winnie Cooper from “The Wonder years”! Reminds me of happier times. Apparently her full name was ‘Gwendolyn’.I also think it would be a good nickname for ‘Winona’.

I really like the name Winnie. I think it's super cute. I prefer it to any other of the Win type names. I love the nickname Win as well.
Winnie is such a cute name. Even with its association with Winnie the Pooh. It also means fair and pure, happiness and soft. I can see why some people might not like the name as they get older but as a second name or nickname growing up I think it's really sweet.
This name is fine as a nickname for Winifred or as a pet name.

Wendeline, Wendelina, Wendela and Wendla could be longer forms. Welsh feminine names ending in '-wen' or with that element in the name like, for example, Bronwen, Olwen and Gwyneira could also work as longer forms.Old English feminine names with the element 'wynn' (meaning "joy") in them like Wynniva, Wynnfleda, Ashwynn, Oswynn, Ethelwynn, Modwynn and Wolfwynn could also work as longer forms.
In 2018, 75 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Winnie* who is registered female with the Social Security Administration. It is the 2, 045th most common female first name for living U.S. citizens. *as a first name, not a nickname.
My name is Edwina. Named after my father Edwin with a soft "ah" at the end. I love my name, but no one pronounces it correctly. I get Edweeeena, which I think is ghastly. My family called me Wina and when I started Jr. High I became Winnie. I quite love the name Winnie. It is fun and it sort of skips everywhere it goes. It was less appropriate when I was in college, graduate school and became a professional so I went back to Edwina... and Edweeeena. I am retired now and have happily become Winnie again. My family also called me Pooh. I have no problem with being identified with A.A. Milne's wonderful character. If you read the books, rather than just watching movies, you will begin to understand that Winnie the Pooh is a very wise bear. Also, don't miss "The Tao of Pooh" which points out a lot of Pooh's very sage thoughts. Yes, my room is filled with Pooh Bears, and I'm glad. I had several friends in high school who assumed my name was Winifred and called me "Fred" forever. Names are fascinating all the way around.
I have the name Winnie and I don't think it's that bad but I often get teased and get called Winnie the diarrhea because it sounds like Winnie the pooh/poo (because pooh and poo sound similar).
Winnie is my mother's middle name, and it’s also what she got called most of the time when she was younger. I think it’s a lovely name, actually one of my favourites. The honey eating bear is not called Winnie the Pooh in my country, but even though I know its original name now, I still never think of the bear when I hear Winnie. I simply just love this name.

I love the name Winnie. If I have a daughter, I'm naming her Winnie. Honestly, by the time I'm actually going to have kids, no one is really going to remember what Winnie the Pooh is. Plus, it's just a cartoon.
Winnie is not only a female name; it is masculine too. This can be a nickname for names such as: Winston, Edwin, Darwin, etc. OR simply a nickname for the Welsh name "Wyn".

How is it a bad idea to name a child (regardless of it being a girl or a boy) Winnie? Winnie has a wonderful meaning and no matter how hard you try picking the perfect name, in the future your child will definitely come across some mean people who will easily manage to come up with cruel insults and hurl them non-stop mercilessly. Sadly, name calling has existed for a long time and it is difficult to completely avoid them in one's life. I have met people with what you could call "safe", "normal" names such as Jamie, Hannah, Marcus etc. And they've all been teased not due to their names, but because of other factors based on their looks, culture, habits, weaknesses etc.I love this name- don't be put off because of Winnie the Pooh! =)

The name Winnie was given to 98 baby girls born in the US in 2012.
I think Winnie is a very awesome sounding nickname. Too bad about the children's book character taking it over. It's supposed to be a girls name, specifically. How come the old-man sounding bear got the name? Oh, well. What's done is done.
