Wilmer Angier Jennings (1910–1990) was an African-American printmaker, painter, and jeweler. He was hired by the Rhode Island WPA to create wood-engraved prints that explored themes of economic and social hardships experienced by African-Americans. Jennings' work also included Southern themes inspired by oral folklore traditions. During his later years, Jennings studied jewelry design, which prompted him to develop new methods of jewelry manufacturing.
Wilmer W. Tanner (1909 – 2011) was an American zoologist, professor and curator. He was associated with Brigham Young University (BYU), in Provo, Utah for much of his life and published extensively on the snakes and salamanders of the Great Basin.
This name sounds very great-grandfatherly despite Wilmer Valderama. It also sounds a bit geeky, like the name of some boy with very thick lenses in his glasses and a weird way of speaking that was a kid about 150 years ago.
