Willemina ('Willemien', 'Wil') van Gogh (Dutch pronunciation: [ʋɪlɦɛlˈminaː ˈʋɪl vɑŋ ˈɣɔx]; 1862 –1941) was a nurse, teacher of scripture, and early Dutch feminist. She is the youngest and best-known sister of artist Vincent van Gogh, to whom he was close, and the art dealer Theo van Gogh.
Both in Dutch and Limburgish, this name is used - on men *and* women. In the case of men, Wil will often be a short form of Willem or Wilbert. And for the women, it will almost always be a short form of Wilhelmina. Both the Dutch and Limburgish pronunciation for Wil can be VIL or WIL (it varies with regions). [noted -ed]
