Violet Banda is a reporter and children’s rights activist from Malawi. Through her weekly radio appearances, she has drawn the attention of the Malawian public and government to the problems afflicting children in her country, including abuse, rape, forced marriage, and discrimination based on HIV status.
Violet Brown is a Jamaican supercentenarian who, at the age of 117 years, 52 days, is the oldest verified living person in the world since the death of Emma Morano on 15 April 2017. She is also the first verified supercentenarian from Jamaica and the oldest verified Jamaican person ever. Her date of birth has been variously reported as 4 March 1900, 10 March 1900, and 15 March 1900; it was officially recognised as 10 March 1900 by the Gerontology Research Group on July 26, 2014 at the age of 114 years, 138 days. Brown was born when Jamaica was a part of the British Empire and is the last living former subject of Queen Victoria. She and Nabi Tajima of Japan are the last two living people known to have been born in the 19th century.

Violet is a little girl in "The Boxcar Children" book series.
Violet was the name of the character Brooke Shields played in the movie "Pretty Baby". The story took place in the 1910´s and the character grew up in a brothel and became a child prostitute. "Pretty Baby" is a film by French director Louis Malle and it was Brooke Shield´s first big part in a movie.
