Vi can also be used as a short form of Vivian, Vivienne, Vivien (2), Vivianne, Viviane, Viviana, Violette, Viola, Violeta, Violetta, or other names beginning with a similar sound.
Well, personally I think it's too short and it's a one syllable name. It's nice as a nickname but as a real name... I wouldn't say yes.

My friend Vidhya goes by Vi! It's a nice nickname, and it really is found across all cultures, not just English as listed here. Really, any name with the V sound being prominent could work just as well as a full name for this nickname, such as Vidhya, Vida, Vesa, Vienne, Vina, or plenty of others.
Just because a name is on here doesn't mean people actually give it to their children! There are a lot of nicknames on this site, that doesn't mean they're used as full names. I don't think anyone would actually name their child Vi as a full name, but it's a cute nickname for Violet :)
Far too minimalist. Doesn't sound like a very mature ir sophisticated name. You can always call your daughter this, but it would be better to name her Violet. This is a lousy official first name, or a middle name.
