If you pronounce it correctly, it won't sound like a masculine name. Besides, Vardo means "rose", it's the literal word for a rose but the last vowel is changed. So if you think that Rose/Rosie sounds ridiculous on a boy you should also think that Vardo sounds ridiculous for a boy. [noted -ed]
