Possibly derived from Aeolic Greek τῦδε (tude) or (tyde), which is derived from Aeolic Greek τύδαι (tudai) or (tydai) meaning "here, there". Also compare Aeolic Greek τυῖδε (tuide) or (tyide) meaning "hither". In Greek mythology, Tydeus was the name of an Aeolian hero, who was one of the Seven Against Thebes.
