Tripp

I do not think this name is mostly derived from the surname. I think that, like Trey, it is mostly originally a nickname for boys with "III" after their names. All of the men I know who have been called Tripp are actually "Thirds" who are using it as a nickname. I think they usually spell it Tripp instead of Trip to get away from the meaning of the word "trip". As a nickname for "III" it obviously is short for the word "triple".
