Torgaut was the name of a Torgaut Jonson who was assumed to be the son of knight Jon Ragnvaldson who was the founder of the Smør house around the mid 13th century for being lord of Blindheim at the time, the Smør house was one of the few remaining original Norwegian houses that survived from being wiped out by the Black Plague.The name Torgaut seems to be an Early Medieval diversion of Þórgautr
