I've honestly never liked this name (no offense to anyone with the name Tony). For a diminutive for Anthony, it isn't THAT bad, but as a full name I despise it.

Yuck, I hate this name. I like the name Anthony better. Anthony doesn't need a nickname. This sounds more of a nickname to me and this is a name that mostly middle aged men go by. I find it hard to imagine a couple naming their child this.

Tony is a cute name! Full name or nickname! And I think Tony would be a cute name for a girl. As a full name or a short form of Antonia. I like Tony as a full name or a nickname for boys and girls. I hope to name my daughter Tony Elizabeth or Tony Amelia some day.

What really ticks me off about the nickname Tony and some others like Bill and Bob is that the first initial is different than the actual name therefore you'll be like "Oh yeah my name starts with this letter, but it actually starts with this letter" or "I don't use my real initial."
It's not that bad of a name. Although I've noticed that almost every story that contains a criminal or mobster organization, there is almost always a guy called Tony or Fat Tony. Just putting it out there.
