This name reminds me of the Inupiatun word "tingmiat" meaning "bird" (at least in the Uigvak dialect, I'm not sure about other dialects, though I know Inupiatun dialects are pretty similar to each other). I wonder if tingmiat could have an etymological link to this name, with the "tinmi" part being like the "tingmi" root meaning to fly, found in tingmiat and tingmizun (airplane).
