My grandmother was named Otilda, but went by Tillie. I think it's really pretty, and works well as a nickname for both Matilda and Otilda.

The name Tillie was given to 41 baby girls born in the US in 2012. The spelling Tilly is currently more popular.
When I was born my mom bought me a cabbage patch doll named Glenna Matilda, since I couldn't say Matilda, I just called her Tillie. So when I hear this name, I think of my childhood doll.
