Meaning & History
The first element of this name is probably derived from Greek θήρα (thera) meaning "the hunting of wild beasts, the chase", which is ultimately derived from Greek θηράω (therao) "to hunt, to chase". Also compare Theron. However, it is also possible that the first element is actually derived from the Greek verb θερίζω (therizo) meaning "to reap, to harvest, to mow" as well as "to do summer work". It is ultimately derived from the Greek noun θέρος (theros) meaning "summer". The second element of this name is derived from Greek κλεος (kleos) meaning "glory". As such, the meaning of this name is either "glorious hunt" or "to reap glory".
