In the Dutch-speaking world, there are two pronunciations for Thecla; which one you hear, largely depends on the preference of the parents of the bearer, as they decided how the name of their daughter ought to be pronounced. The pronunciations in question are:• /'te:.kla:/
• /'tɛk.la:/ [noted -ed]You can hear them for yourself below:https://youtu.be/69MmBJxfFxE (in Dutch; the name is said at 0:09 and 0:11)

The most famous Dutch bearer of that name is the actress Thekla Reuten (b. 1975), who has enjoyed international success. She pronounces her name as /'te:.kla:/, which you can hear here:https://youtu.be/QFF9Xuoxibg (in Dutch; Reuten introduces herself at 0:00)Here is another bearer with that pronunciation:https://youtu.be/Xl5dfdfs0mE (in Dutch; she introduces herself at 0:09)Because Reuten is so famous, it's hard to find other Dutch Theklas on YouTube - let alone those who pronounce their name as /'tɛk.la:/. As a result, the only available proof of that pronunciation comes from non-bearers:https://nl.forvo.com/search/Thekla/nl/ (in Dutch)

Thecla Boesen (1910 – 1996) was a Danish film actress. She appeared in 22 films between 1940 and 1982.
Saint Thecla is one of my favourite saints. Highlights of her story include befriending a lioness, baptizing herself in a pool full of seals (yes, the animal), and being ride or die for Paul to the point that she died on his tomb.
I don't love the name for a baby (at least in an English-speaking context) but I think it would be an awesome middle name, or else a cool name for a pet or fictional character.
This is not just the English form of Thekla - it is also the latinized form of Thekla. As such, the name should be added to either the 'Ancient Greek (Latinized)' category or the 'Greek (Latinized)' category. Also, the 'History' category is (partially) intended for historic names that are no longer or rarely used by people nowadays. That isn't true for this name at all. It has been used in the English-speaking world (so it should be added to the 'English' category). It is also frequently used in The Netherlands, where it is actually more common than Thekla (the original Greek form). In 2010, for Thecla, there were nearly 700 bearers (of all ages) in all of The Netherlands. Whereas for Thekla, the total was nearly 200 bearers in that year. As such, this name also fits in the 'Dutch' category. :) [noted -ed]
I met someone with this name today! I'd never heard it before. Pretty cool name!
