Tex

I feel I do prefer this as a nickname, either not name related or actually short for Texas or the like, but I think it has a nice sound and a good vibe! A little old and a little ‘cowboy’, but still quite nice.
I’ve definitely seen it on women as well.

I don't even like this as a nickname, but as a legal name it would be even worse. It makes me think of a stereotypical Texan who wears a cowboy hat, votes Republican, and hates gay people.

Texas is a nice state but Tex is just... eh. The same goes for a lot of location names.

This name is totally ridiculous. It would sound pathetic in Texas, and just plain weird anywhere else. Tex sounds rather like the name of a dog or a redneck.
