On another note, here are my personal opinions about this name: I think that it is a very handsome-sounding name, especially said in Polish. Kosinski, who I mentioned before, gives me the impression of a strong, brave man; his association strengthens my likings. If you're Romanian or Polish, you should definitely consider Teofil for a son.
Homosexual Holocaust Survivor Stefan Kosinski had the birth name of Teofil. Kosinski's interview is the USC Shoah Foundation's only Homosexual survivor interview conducted in English.

Not really famous, but…
Polish painter Jacek Yerka once said that he had a pet snail named Teofil.
Also used in Sweden but not very common. Teo is used for short.
