Symon Petliura was a Ukrainian nationalist.
The more common form of this name in Ukraine is Semen (Семен, Se-mEn). Famous bearers are Semen Hulak-Artemovsky or Semen Paliy. Symon (Симон, SI-mon) is rather rare form, mostly ecclesiastical or biblical (Симон Зілот - Simon the Zealot, Симон Маккавей - Simon Maccabeus). [noted -ed]
