I very much prefer Sylvia to Sylvie. Sylvie is a cute nickname though or a great name for someone with French origin. I was shocked to learn that the name Sylvie is considered to be an old lady name in France just like Sylvia is seen in the US by some. Sylvia is becoming more and more popular though which I’m overjoyed to see. I think both names are very beautiful, classy, and flow super well.
I LOVE the name Sylvie! It makes me think of the color silver, because it has the same prefix. I don't understand everyone's preference for Sylvia over Sylvie, because to me, Sylvie is much more elegant (but that might just be the French aspect of it). It's definitely on my list!
Sylvie is one of my top 3 favourite girls names. I love it! The meaning “spirit of the woods” is just so magical, and the name just rolls off the tongue. It seems like the name of a fairy or pixie. I’ve loved it ever since I was a kid, the name of my doll when I was little was Sylvie. I hope I get the chance to name a daughter this one day.
Sylvie Laufeydottir is a character in the Marvel TV series 'Loki', also loosely based on Sylvie Lushton, a character from the Marvel comics. Given how well the fans responded to the character, I predict this name is going to become a bit more popular amongst Marvel fans in the next while!
I think Sylvie is beautiful- fairy-like and delicate. We are planning to name our baby Sylvie Elise. Not sure who said this name is overused— I haven’t met anyone in the US with this name, and it’s currently sitting at number 867 which is not high at alll. Maybe they live somewhere it’s more common?
This is my nickname. My real name is Sylvia, but I've always loved Sylvie more. It's one of those few names that have an equally charming spelling and pronunciation. It looks modern and classic at the same time. Definitely a timeless name!
The name Sylvie was given to 282 girls born in the US in 2016. More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Sylvie are female.

One of my French professors is named Sylvie. She's from Québec, Canada, and has been teaching at LSU for several years. She has published several academic papers about Louisiana French.
Sylvie Vartan is a French singer and actress. She is known as one of the most productive and tough-sounding yé-yé artists. Her performances often featured elaborate show-dance choreography, and she made many appearances on French and Italian TV. Yearly shows with then-husband Johnny Hallyday attracted full houses at the Olympia and the Palais des congrès de Paris throughout the 1960s and mid-1970s. In 2004, after a break in performances, she began recording and giving concerts of jazz ballads in francophone countries.
I absolutely adore this name, so much prettier than Sylvia in my opinion. Sylvie is sweet, charming, and beautiful.

The name Sylvie was given to 169 baby girls born in the US in 2012. I think the French pronunciation is beautiful! Unfortunately, in English speaking countries it would probably be mispronounced as SIL-vee.
It's beautiful, and in English-speaking countries makes a playful take on Sylvia. There's also a less common French variant of Sylvia - Sylvette. I think Sylvette sounds a bit contrived, but could be a pretty middle name.
Czech pronunciation is actually more like Seel-vi-ye (shortly).(I think Janika is simply confused by the difficulcies of pronunciation key in English, considering Czech is much more phonetical than English.)
This is beautiful. Phonetically pleasing, unusual but not weird, why aren't there more of them (under 60 I mean). I think this name must be about to come back in to fashion.
