If it weren’t for a very personal, awful family matter, I’d really love this name. In fact, I really do enjoy this name for a girl, as I’ve always done. However, the personal baggage with this name cannot compare, unfortunately. If you’re considering to use this name, I’d say give it a shot; it’s unique, classy, and gentle-sounding. It’s a huge shame that this situation prevents me from using it.
Suellen Rocca (1943 – 2020) was an American artist, one of the original Chicago Imagists, a group in the 1960s and 1970s who turned to representational art. She exhibited with them at the Hyde Park Art Center from 1966 through 1969. She was curator of the art collection and director of exhibitions at Elmhurst College.
I guess I'm in the minority here because I really like this name. I think it's rather cute, either as a nickname or a legal one. *shrug* I don't imagine a "redneck" at all.
It might not have a nice sound but it’s certainly better than the name Sue!

Suellen was the highest new entry into the girls top 1000 in the USA in 1940. It went from not being in the top 1000 in 1939 to #585 in 1940. This was due to the movie "Gone with the Wind" being released in 1939, featuring a character named Suellen.
Hmmm... Very interesting but oh my! It screams stereotypical so bad!I've never heard the name Suellen before, very uncommon indeed. But I personally don't like it myself- it's the stereotypical -type (names like Shaquan, Shaniqua, etc) Because most people will usually associate it with rednecks. As for the name, it's really the Sue part that does it all (the part I don't like). But do it! If you like it name your child that!
