My name is Stratton (I am a female). I have never heard of this being the origin of my name, though I have discovered that the Masculine name of Stratton can be found in Scottish history and means "peaceful river valley" or other similar terms.

To me Straton has a very modern tone to it, sounding firm and down-to-earth, unlike most Ancient Greek names I've heard which seem to evoke more mystery, being difficult to pronounce and foreign to the tongue. I think it's a good name, unusual, different, but easy to say. I have also heard of the name Stratton.
