I love Stanley, it's a train conductor name, it reminds me of trains. I love riding on trains! It sounds very friendly, like a friendly train conductor.

Stanley Clarke is a famous smooth jazz and fusion bassist bearing the name. Alongside Marcus Miller he pioneered the bass guitar as a lead instrument in smooth jazz and was influential to other smooth jazz bassists such as Wayman Tisdale.
I personally LOVE this name! It sounds so pleasing and cute in my ears! When I hear this name, I think of a nice and cute young boy who adores his friends and family!
Stanley is a name that may sound unisex like Riley and Bailey, but Stanley is a masculine name and it would sound unique on a girl just like any other boy name on girls. Personally, I like the name Stanley for a boy only! I rather name my daughter Stanley and Anthony than Michael since Michael sounds 100 times more masculine than those two names but I wouldn’t use any of those three names on a girl.

There are some girls called Stanley, and I think it’s pretty like that. I’m not fond of the masculine usage. It’s especially pretty if they have feminine middle names.

Stanley is the full name of Stan Marsh from the TV show South Park.
Stanley is a pretty cool name. Strong for a man and nice for a little boy. Stan is also pretty nice, and I LOVE South Park, though that wouldn’t be a sole reason to name my kid Stanley.
Stan Musial! “Stan the Man” a beloved baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals! My personal opinion: this is a good strong name and “Stan” is handsome and athletic.

Two great men I know are named Stanley. Stanley Everett was my grandfather and Stanley Arthur is my little brother. Both very manly and my brother was something of a stud in his younger days, nothing nerdy about him at all. I love the nickname Stan. Very strong and masculine.
I think Stanley deserves a comeback. It's a handsome, sophisticated name without being too stuffy. It makes me think of the Stanley Cup, Stanley Yelnats, the main character in the book Holes, and Stan Marsh from South Park. An association for everyone's taste, I guess.
One of my best friends is named Stanley, and goes by "Stan". It isn't really a name I'd like on its own, but I associate it with my friend so it's grown on me. He is neither a "puny nerd" nor a "complete jerk", etc., the other comments listed above. He is a gentleman!

Okay, this seems like a name only immature nerds (although I'd rarely use those two words in the same sentence) would name their child. You could name him in honor of Jack Stanley Hodgins from Bones, or Stan Lee. No thank you!
Stanley Tucci (born November 11, 1960) is a very talented American actor, writer, film producer and film director. He has starred in such movies as The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia, The Lovely Bones, and The Terminal, among many other memorable works.
I find this name really funny, for reasons I'll never know. If I ever hear a mom calling out "Stanley, let's go!" I would burst into giggles. I don't know, it just sounds like a comedian name to me.That being said, it's a cool name. It ages well, and it could fit different types of guys. I wouldn't use it though; I don't want to spend all of my child's life chuckling at the sound of his name.
Stanley Martin Lieber (b. 1922), known as "Stan Lee". Legendary American comic book writer, editor, actor, producer, publisher, television personality, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. He was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995.I can really see this name taking off with nerds as a result of Stan Lee being such a cult hero.
Stan Laurel is a famous bearer, although his real name was Arthur Stanley Jefferson.

My impression of this name is negative, as it always makes me think of unpleasant guys, be they frat boys or sexist middle-aged jerks who have really let themselves go, yet are die-hard believers in the bizarre idea that women lose all their sex appeal at 35. I'm not sure where this idea comes from. It IS a name of a character in that cappy, overrated piece of garbage program South Park, but he's just a kid, so the idea must come from somewhere else. Well, SP is just another reason not to like the name for me. And hey, it's not like it sounds nice.

Stanley Yelnats is the hero of the movie 'Holes'. He is something like Stanley Yelnats the second or Stanley Yelnats the third. (The neat thing is that Yelnats is Stanley spelled backwards.)
