Stanimir Ilchev is a Bulgarian politician and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He is a member of the National Movement Simeon II, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. After two years as observer, he became a Member of the European Parliament on 1 January 2007 with the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union.
It does come from the element stan-, which is related to the word ставам (1st person) which means to stand, but also to happen. When names are concerned, stan- stands for "to be", "to happen" - Stanimir - may peace be. Stanislav - may glory (slava) be, etc. [noted -ed]
