My name is Spirit. I've never really met other people with the same name but it's nice to know that I'm not the only one born with it. Sometimes I have a hate-love situation with my name. Love that my name is more unique than anyone else I've met and it can be very pretty. Everyone I've ever met had nothing to say but nice words about my name. What I do hate is people would do the "Where's your Spirit, Spirit?" "We got Spirit, yeah we do!" I don't remember but it was super embarrassing and weird, haha. I don't get bullied over my name and I'm happy my parents gave me such a unique name. Plus I really like ghosts and horror movies, haha! I'm not into all that Christian stuff either so I don't know how those people would say about my name. (I don't look forward to it lol)

Spirit is not a name. Who decided to make this a name? It looks bizarre.
My daughter Spirit-Dawn and I would like you to know that though I, as her mother, was completely worried about what the kids could come up with to tease her about, Spirit has never once had anyone make fun of or given her a hard time over it. The only question she has to field is whether she was named after that horse even though she's older than the movie. I asked myself years ago what the most important thing in life was and a good clean Spirit was the answer that came back. With a good Spirit you can go anywhere and through anything and come out the other side. The first Christmas we went to church with her and the pastor asked her name. He threw out his sermon and spoke around the basis of her name the whole time. It felt like a blessing and I sincerely hope her name will always be a blessing to her. Besides she's truly one of a kind with a one of a kind name. Who else can say they have their very own name they never have to share, unlike the 2 Baileys 2 Haileys and a Kailey in her class.
My boyfriends name is Spirit. Odd because my name is Hope! I think of Spirit more as a boy name although it can work as a girls first name as long as she has a delicate middle name to pull it off.
This doesn't even sound like a name, not even a stage name or for a fictional character! I wouldn't even use it on a pet. At least it's not as horrid and corny as Spiritual, which I've unfortunately seen used on a real person.
Another fictional bearer of this name is Spirit Albarn from the anime Soul Eater. Yes it's goofy, particuarly given that Spirit is a guy, but given that the anime in question is absolutely full of Engrish names (personally I blame the writer's sense of humour), it sort of works in context.
This pathetic excuse for a name will lead to jokes of many kind. There's the Holy Spirit thing. There's the whole team/human/community/whatever spirit thing. There's the idea about the soul. And, to top it all off, there's the booze connotation! This word is just plain ridiculous as a name, even for an animal.
